Welcome to the lake

A lake they made on purpose.

The Great Sacandaga Lake isn't a lucky accident of geology — it's a reservoir, born in 1930 when the Conklingville Dam tamed the Sacandaga River. Behind the dam, a valley of farms, villages and an old river-town amusement park became 29 miles of blue water ringed by Adirondack forest.

Today it's a beloved summer playground of calm coves and family marinas, a winter sheet of ice-fishing villages, and the gateway to the southern Adirondacks — 20 minutes from everything Saratoga has to offer.
